Dental Implants
Dental implants are one of the biggest developments in modern dentistry. As the population in general lives longer, more and more people are looking for a permanent solution to missing teeth. Dental implants are a tried and tested method of replacing teeth, are fixed and permanent unlike other solutions (such as unsecured dentures) and with proper care can last a lifetime.
A dental implant is a small, titanium screw that is placed in the jaw bone in a minor surgical procedure, carried out under local anaesthetic and/or with the use of conscious sedation, depending on patient preference. The implant then supports replacement teeth in the form of crowns, secured dentures or bridges.
Most patients report that the sensation of having an implant fitted is more tolerable than having a tooth removed, and because the procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic you will feel no pain.
A huge benefit of implants is that they are osteoconductive, integrating with and supporting the bone. Other treatments such as unsecured dentures do not do this, and over time the bone beneath any missing teeth starts to degenerate, which can cause an aged appearance to the face and can make dentures loose and uncomfortable.
At Kings Dental Clinic we have provided dental implants since 2003, and have thousands of happy patients. Our patients trust our techniques and experience, and often recommend us to friends and family.
There are several implant systems available to suit all needs and budgets, and these will be discussed with you at your initial implant consultation. Some patients may be suitable for same-day implants, meaning you walk out of the practice that day with a brand new set of teeth.
Even if you have previously been told you are unsuitable for implants because of bone degeneration or if you have been missing your teeth for some time, we may be able to help you. We can perform bone augmentation and sinus lifts, which rebuild the bone and enable implants to be placed.
